Free Pregnancy Tests in Blytheville

A pregnancy test can provide a result, but you may still have questions about what it means and what happens next.

Acts of Hope Pregnancy Resource Center offers confidential, lab-quality urine pregnancy testing at no cost to women in Blytheville and throughout Mississippi County, with time afterward to discuss the result with a mentor.

For information about pregnancy symptoms and interpreting a home test, visit our Pregnant? page. Here is what to expect when you schedule testing at our center.

When Should You Schedule?

Pregnancy tests look for human chorionic gonadotropin, commonly called hCG. This hormone is produced by the developing placenta after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining, occurring about 10 days after conception.

Because hCG increases during early pregnancy, urine tests are generally more reliable after the first day of a missed period. Testing earlier may produce a false-negative result because hCG may not yet be high enough for the test to detect.

If you are unsure when your period is due or if your cycles are irregular, contact Acts of Hope PRC to discuss scheduling. Avoid drinking an unusually large amount of fluid shortly before a urine test because it can dilute the urine.

What Happens During the Appointment?

During your appointment, you will provide a urine sample in a confidential setting. Once the result is available, a mentor will review it with you and discuss whether retesting, medical follow-up, or an available referral may be appropriate.

Acts of Hope PRC is not a medical clinic, so the appointment does not include a medical examination or diagnosis. Pregnancy testing here does not replace care from a licensed medical provider.

What Happens Afterward?

If the result is negative but your period does not begin, you may need to test again or contact a medical provider. If it is positive, your mentor can discuss your options, education, parenting programs, material assistance, and applicable medical referrals.

Ultrasounds are not performed at our center. If you qualify and appointments are available, Acts of Hope may refer you to a local medical provider.

Do not wait for a pregnancy test appointment if you have severe abdominal or pelvic pain, shoulder pain, fainting, dizziness, or heavy bleeding. Seek medical care immediately.
