Maybe part of you can picture parenting. Another part may already be rearranging work shifts, class schedules, housing, child care, and your budget. Both thoughts can exist at the same time.
You need more than someone telling you that everything will work out. You need specifics. What would the first few months require? Who could be part of your support system? Which needs require attention now, and which ones have a little more time?
We can talk through what parenting could look like for you and explain which programs, supplies, and community resources may be available.
What Does Acts of Hope Offer?
Depending on current supplies and program availability, Acts of Hope may offer:
- Material assistance. Diapers, car seats, and other baby items may be available. Ask what is currently in stock and whether any requirements apply.
- Parenting education. Classes provide practical information about parenting and responsibilities at home.
- Life-skills education. Current classes address skills that can be used while working, attending school, managing a household, or raising a child.
- Fatherhood programming. Fathers can ask about current programs, mentoring, and ways to take an active role in parenting.
Supplies, class topics, and schedules may change. A mentor can explain what is currently offered before you plan a visit.
Connections Around Mississippi County
Some needs extend beyond what Acts of Hope provides directly. The center participates in 100 Families, a community network housed at Arkansas Northeastern College that connects local nonprofit organizations.
Depending on each program’s requirements and availability, referrals may be available for baby supplies, GED completion, obtaining a driver’s license, education or employment goals, and other practical needs. Each organization determines its own qualifications and services, so a referral does not guarantee enrollment or assistance.
Learning More Does Not Commit You
Parenting may already be the option you are leaning toward, or you may still be comparing parenting with abortion and adoption. Asking about classes, supplies, or community resources does not commit you to parenting. It gives you a more realistic picture of what may be available before you decide.
